Nonprofit Partner Feature: Tennessee Breast Cancer Coalition

Most women don’t anticipate breast cancer, yet 12 percent of women will be diagnosed at some point in life, according to The National Cancer Institute. The continued need for support groups, encouragement, and financial relief is very real among women diagnosed with this serious disease.

Thankfully, organizations like the Tennessee Breast Cancer Coalition (TBCC) have identified this need in our community and are right there to help. With only three staff members, this small but mighty organization is dedicated to improving the lives of individuals undergoing treatment for breast cancer. Through individual assistance, education, research, and legislative action, TBCC finds ways to promote health and address the challenges faced by the women it serves.

This grassroots effort successfully helps hundreds of Middle Tennessee breast cancer patients thanks to the support of volunteers and board members. Jeanne Napier, former board member with TBCC, is a breast cancer survivor and works in a breast surgical oncology practice in Nashville. “Survivors tend to meet other survivors through support groups, friends, and relatives who have breast cancer in their families, and in all walks of life,” says Jeanne. “TBCC is an organization that truly helps patients in times of need.” Volunteers such as Jeanne play a vital role in supporting TBCC in its important work.
